What the app stores on your device

• Which prayers you have marked, and when
• Which optional acts you have completed
• What you owe in make-up prayers
• Which items you have put on your day, and which you have marked as known
• Which optional act was last suggested to you, so you are not asked twice in a week
• Whether you are travelling, and whether prayer tracking is paused
• Whether you chose Brother, Sister or preferred not to say when you set the app up. This decides only whether the app offers to pause prayer tracking, and it is used for nothing else
• Your settings: location, calculation method, Hijri offset, reminders, language and appearance
• If you turn on leaving-home reminders, the coordinates of the one place you set as home

All of it lives in a database on your device. We cannot see any of it.

Location

Ihsaanly needs a rough location to work out the parts of the day. You can grant location access, or pick a city from a list built into the app. The app works fully either way, and it works with no permissions granted at all.

Your coordinates are used on your device to calculate prayer windows and the Hijri date. They are never transmitted, with one exception you control: if you send a diagnostic report, a rounded version of them is in it. See below.

If you turn on leaving-home reminders, the app monitors a single region around a place you set. This is off by default, uses the phone’s own geofencing, and your position is never sent anywhere.

What can leave your device, and only when you choose it

Two things, both from More → Your data, both through your phone’s own share sheet so you pick where they go.

Export my data. Your settings and your full practice record, as readable text, so you can keep it or move to a new phone.

Send a diagnostic report. For fixing a problem. It contains your settings, your practice record, your approximate coordinates, your device and OS version, and any recent errors. Before anything is sent you are shown a screen listing exactly what it holds, and you can read the whole report in full. Coordinates in the report are rounded to about a hundred metres. Nothing is sent until you choose to send it, and you choose where it goes.

We only receive a diagnostic report if you send us one.

Donations

Ihsaanly is free. Every part of it is free, and stays free. There is no paid tier, nothing is locked, and there is no advertising.

You may give an optional donation, which unlocks nothing and changes nothing about the app. On Android, tapping it opens your browser at donate.ihsaanly.app. That page is not part of the app, and whatever it collects is covered by its own privacy policy, not this one. We never see your payment details.

What we do not do

• No account, email address or phone number
• No advertising, and no advertising identifier
• No analytics, telemetry or crash reporting
• No tracking across apps or websites
• No selling or sharing of anything, because we hold nothing to sell

This website

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from any other company. Like any web server, the host may keep standard access logs, such as your IP address and the page requested, for security and operation.

If you choose a language or an appearance, your browser remembers that choice on your own device. It is never sent to us.

Children

Ihsaanly collects nothing from anyone, of any age.

Deleting your data

More → Your data → Delete my data removes everything on the device and starts the app over. Deleting the app does the same, because there is nowhere else it lives.
